Chapter 10:
Once you have the bones of your outbound system in place, you should start building a team around it that knows how to execute the vision. This is often the hardest part of growing any team. The wrong hire can mean the difference between a good idea and something that actually generates results.
Look for people who are curious, adaptable, and not afraid of data. You can teach the rest. Hire folks for what they can do, not what they have done before. There are people in the world who CAN'T and people who WON'T. You want to find the CAN'Ts and turn them into CANs.
Create a culture of continuous learning. The market changes fast. Technology changes even faster. Your team needs to change faster. I say to mine all the time: "Throw stuff at a wall, see what sticks, and then throw more stuff wherever it sticks." As you grow, create specialised roles. Data analysts, content creators, and automation specialists. But make sure everyone understands the big picture. Silos kill outbound teams. Make sure the processes are well documented and open to feedback and changes. Don't just reward closers. Reward learning, innovation, and collaboration. Create a system where your best practices spread like wildfire across the team.
Remember, scaling isn't just about getting bigger. It's about getting better. Every increase in quantity should come with an increase in quality. Otherwise, you're just creating a bigger mess.
